About a year ago we installed our laminate flooring which I love! The one thing I don’t love is cleaning it. It never seems to stay clean or look clean after I’ve mopped it.
It was a great day to be looking out the large window to the backyard when I noticed that some of the flooring did not look the same. About a box’s worth of boards spread throughout the living room floor. I called the flooring company and they agreed to come and fix it. After many scheduling conflicts and the company talking with the manufacturer, it finally has been completed, one year later! I once again love it. What types of flooring at in your home? We have laminate and carpet in the bedrooms. I’m glad to not have a lot of carpet, as vacuuming is not something I enjoy.
One downside I found is that it not always look clean evening after mopping it. While the replacement installation was happening I chatted with one of the guys about cleaning the flooring and he recommended a special product that the Shaw manufacturer makes. So to be determined if that will work but I’m hoping it will. Next stop is ordering the cleaner and testing it out.
Cleaning Laminate Flooring
What is your preferred method of cleaning? I really like Norwex products but find that certain things like my floors need something with a little more scrubbing power. When I get on my hands and knees I get better results but that’s not realistic to do every day or even once a week with 3 young kids and working full time during the school year.
I have found that if I dry mop first to get all the everyday dirt and food from the kids picked up that helps. Then use a wet mop after the dry mop and finally make sure we do not walk on the wet floor. It does seem to work better. If someone walks on it, while it’s wet you can see the footprints left behind.
Kitchen
Take note of the beautiful laminate flooring next to my kitchen cabinets. They flow so nicely together and make the room feel large. More to come on our kitchen update. We are working on the pantry and putting up trim around the house.
This kitchen is one of my favorite places to be. I have a lot of counter space and storage. We spend a lot of time in our kitchen. I cook most of our meals and oftentimes kids are standing around helping with the cooking or preparing of the meals.
We also spend a lot of time canning different foods in our kitchen all summer long.
These laminate floors have made cleaning up messes so easy to do. I appreciate that as with little helpers there is always a mess that needs to be cleaned up.
