A Show Stopper New Staircase

Come along with me as I share about different parts of our remodel. Today I’ll share about our staircase.

In the original home, the stairs were situated between the living room and the kitchen, flanked by two solid walls. The cabinets and the refrigerator lined the kitchen side of the wall. As we started removing items, we uncovered some water damage leading us to gut the entire kitchen. Then from the kitchen it lead to the living and dining area. Before we knew it the whole house was down to the studs. During one of our discussions, we considered opening up the staircase to improve visibility, and one day I suggested moving the stairs. My very handy husband agreed that we had the freedom to do as we pleased.

Subsequent conversations focused on where to relocate the stairs for a better layout. Ultimately, we moved the stairs to where the old dining area was located and this seemed to be the best solution. The steps have a metal railing that was custom made. We also added a custom gate that matches. A built-in gate was something that I really wanted versus temporary gate. Since, we young children, and many of our friends have young children. I love how it turned out and it flows so well with the house.

Most importantly, for our needs and the flow of the house, this worked much better. Where the new peninsula in the kitchen is located is where the old staircase was. It now allows for ample counter space for our everyday kitchen needs, and then some. The counter hangs over with the intention that if we ever needed to make it for extra seating or buffet style hosting, we could do that easily. Our hope is that with all this space, we will be able to host many events and make people feel welcomed and apart of our home.

Faith

God has been so faithful through our journey, and continues to be as we are still in the process . We have had many obstacles come up during the process of making our house a home. It has grown our family and made us stronger through the process of creating this dream for our family.

God knows what is best for us, and I know that he will provide what we need. We have had to make some sacrifices for the short term, but it is paying off and will continue to pay off. This summer we have been able to have a garden and grow own food this summer and can it for this winter. We have been able to create a space for our children to have space and run around outside. God has been so good to our family and we have been able to share with others which is such a blessing to us. I know that God will provide in his time and with what we really need.

Staircase to Heaven

Staircase to Heaven…may not be realistic but it is a good metaphor for our lives. The Bible serves as our staircase to Heaven, a tool we use to guide our lives and seek God’s guidance on how to build steps towards Him. The staircase emphasizes the importance of personal growth and self-discovery in gaining a deeper understanding of oneself. Though it may seem like a distant goal, the stairway to Heaven reminds us that every step we take on our journey is significant and brings us closer to eternal life with God. Whether you are taking small steps or giant leaps, remember that each one brings you closer to achieving your goal of spending eternity with God.

Isaiah 55:10 (NIV)

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,

Psalms 65:9 (NIV)

You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it.

3 John 1:5 (NIV)

Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers to you.You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it.
