Discovering The Treasure Beneath Old – Kitchen Remodel

My kitchen is amazing! I’m sure it’s not for everyone, but for me, it works, and I love how it turned out.

We bought our house about 3 years ago, and it has been a long time for us to get to where we are now.

The original kitchen was set up at the back of the house and was closed off to the living room. The stairs that led downstairs were between the two rooms. It opened up into the dining area, which was carpet. The original kitchen was build in late 70s, early 80s home. It was in great shape but needed a few updates to meet our lifestyle.

What was supposed to be a face lift turned into a total remodel! The new kitchen is actually in the same place as the old kitchen, only larger and open to see all that is happening.

Kitchen Appliances

Picking out appliances was fun but also hard! Things can add up quickly in a heartbeat. Most items we went with were the simplest or least cost wise. Except the oven/stovetop. That was where we put our money. I do most of our cooking and generally cook 6/7 nights out of the week. In the summer it’s every meal all day long. Having a stove top that has 6 full-sized burners was important to me. Having gas was important to my husband. We found this beautiful option that fits both our needs! It’s larger than a standard oven, which is extra nice during the holidays. We do lots of hosting for our families.

Now there are a few things I would change for sure, but at the end of the day my kitchen is something I want to be in making meals for my family. I like knowing that I’m helping provide good meals for my family that they enjoy.

Lately, because of our schedules and school starting up, it feels as though we are living in the kitchen every weekend! Finishing the canning process that started mid-summer has now gone into fall. It’s tomato and fruit season. We spend endless hours making pasta sauce, tomato juice, chili base and canning fruit.

Faith

We all need a fresh start, to ask forgiveness. God has done that for us. He sent his son to us.

We discussed how we are all like a pumpkin. On the outside, we look good and unique, but on the inside, our sin makes us unclean. Once you clean out the pumpkin seeds and ask for forgiveness, we are clean again. Jesus’s light will shine through. Just like the light of a jack-o-lantern shines through.

Our Sunday school lesson this week was all about sins and because God sent his beloved son, we are forgiven.

Then we created paper pumpkins with our sins written on strips of orange paper on the inside and added God’s light. Knowing that God will forgive us and that we can try to be better.

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NIV)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
