I’m so excited to see our wild plum thickets doing so well. I’m hoping we will be able to produce tasty jam from the fruit.

We have been searching for recipes online that look good and meet our needs. I one day hope to have a book full of our recipes and how we have changed things to make them work for us.

I’m not afraid to try something new, and I’m also not afraid to experiment. Once you figure out the patterns for certain types of recipes, you can make them easily with adjustments. For example, I’ve been making banana zucchini protein bread (stay tuned for that post) that my kids absolutely love. There is no recipe, just general guidelines I follow. I’ve made enough different types of both banana and zucchini bread. I have a good base to start off with.

Our wild berries look absolutely beautiful too!!

Canning Wild Plums

With any luck, we will be canning once all the apples and pears are finished. My thought is to throw them into a crockpot to soften, so the seeds can then be removed easily. Once all the seeds are removed, I’m going to pop them into the Magic Bullet (love mine) to blend away. Don’t you worry, I’ll be sharing the process once the time comes to turn these beautiful berries into sweet treats!

Since right now weekends are our only time available, I’m freezing tomatoes and plums during the week until we have a moment to process them.

Here is to a bountiful harvest this year!

Faith

Look at the beauty that God has created. He reminds us that we are all made in his image and that no matter what, we are, just as he has designed.

Our lesson this week at Sunday School was just about this. God made us so that we are all different and have different talents. He wants us to use our gifts he has given us to share his love and truth with others. Before the fall in the garden of Eden, everything was good, because God said it was good. He wanted us to have the opportunity to experience good in our lives. It is our job to find it and create it now. Listening to his voice inside of us, the Holy Spirit is here to guide us through it all.

I know I need help listening to that voice all the time. It is easy to get caught up in our world. Technology makes it even easier to get lost in what is good and bad. Are you sharing the good and hoping to help others find that good? I’m working on that, it is hard to change your mindset, create a new habit. In the end, though, it will all be worth it.

Genesis 1:26-31

(26) Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” (27) So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

(28) God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” (29) Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

(31) God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.
