Jalapeño Strawberry Jam The Gift That Spices Life Up

Today was the day to try something new, jalapeño strawberry jam (click the link for the recipe)! Starting off my day I collected jars so I could make sure they were ready to be filled with greatness. A trip to the garden provided the jalapeños that I needed. They noticed that strawberries were on sale so taking advantage of that was critical for this project!

I prepared everything to make a smooth transition between steps and was very helpful. After some internet searching I found a recipe for strawberry jalapeño jam and got to work. Next, I decided to make a few adjustments to better suit my liking. One of those was that I pureed the strawberries and the jalapeños to try and eliminate any chunks.

I’ve tried to make jam before and it didn’t setup. Honestly, it turned out to be some pretty good black raspberry syrup. My biggest mistake was not letting it come to a rolling boil before adding the sugar. Next, I added the sugar making sure that I brought it back to a rolling boil for 1 minute. I truly believe this made all the difference this go around. Finally, the jam cooled after the water bath and it set up nicely. Now just for the taste test. I imagine it will be a spicy sweet treat that will pair perfectly with cream cheese and crackers.

Hopefully, these little jars of goodness will be Christmas gifts for the coming year. My thought was to make homemade gifts from the garden! Time will tell if there are enough left for gifts!

Faith in the Jam

The Lord has been faithful this growing season. We couldn’t have asked for a better year for the most part. So far things are looking good and productive abundantly. God will provide what is needed. He will give us what we need. He also wants us to share what we have been blessed with. We are trying to honor him by doing just that. We have been so fortunate in our growing season and are grateful to share with others.
