Reading is one of my favorite pass times in the evenings. I usually sit and read all the time. Now it seems the only time I have to read is at night after everyone has gone to bed. It helps me unwind from the day and rest my busy mind, so I can fall asleep. My mind is often thinking of the canning that needs to be done, work that keeps me up and just everyday life.
My personal favorite types of books are Christian fiction love stories. I love that they end up happy, and they have a Christian edge, so they are good clean books. They are the perfect way to end my day. I also love the series. It makes it easy to know what I’m reading next, but the ones I typically pick don’t have to be read in order and the characters overlap only slightly.
Here are a few of my favorite authors to read:
Nancy Mehl
Nancy Mehl has authored over fifty books and is currently at work on a new FBI suspense series for Bethany House Publishing. She lives in Missouri, with her husband Norman.
All of Nancy’s novels have an added touch – something for your spirit as well as your soul. “I welcome the opportunity to share my faith through my writing,” Nancy says. “It’s a part of me and of everything I think or do. God is number one in my life. I wouldn’t be writing at all if I didn’t believe that this is what he’s called me to do. I hope everyone who reads my books will walk away with the most important message I can give them: God is good, and He loves you more than you can imagine. He has a good plan especially for your life, and there is nothing you can’t overcome with His help.” (Quote from – Amazon Kindle),

Faith in Reading
I love the inspiring stories and how they remind me of God’s love for his people. They show how you need to have faith in God no matter the situations that life throws at you. I was listening to a Podcast the other day, and it reminded me that once sin entered the world it came in full force. It wasn’t just a small thing but think about Adam and Eve who experienced the garden of Eden, but their children where not perfect and did not act in such ways.
That there is good in this world, because God is good! We have to be on the lookout for that good. What is good in your life? I love spending time with my kids and watching them grow. I see the beauty in being outside and just being. Nothing has to be done but just enjoy what is going on. My favorite time is reading books to my kids before bed. We settle in and snuggle, and they pick out several books. Each night, depending on time, we go through as many books in their stacks as possible. Some nights it’s two others it’s 10.
1 John 4:9 (NIV)
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
