Mock Pineapple a Unique Recipe for Faith in God

Trying another new recipe…fake pineapple. It’s actually zucchini that tastes similar to pineapple. What a surprise it actually tastes as good as I hoped! We tried it hot out of the pot before canning it.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

We haven’t opened a jar yet to try it at room temperature or even cold but the time is coming. Our family enjoys making new things that we can then take with us to different events and share. It’s half the fun right? Sharing and seeing what others have to say. We are having a canning exchange at our church this year and I’m excited to see what others will bring to share and trade with us.

What is the best part of trying something new? I think it’s the hope of it being a success and everyone will love it. Although I’m not great at following recipes or writing down my creations so if something is well loved around here it’s hard to make it again exactly the same.

What is the process? It’s rather simple.

  • Pineapple juice (48oz)
  • Sugar (3c)
  • Water (3 c)
  • 16 cups of zucchini

Instructions:

  1. Peel and remove the seeds from the zucchini.
  2. Cut the zucchini into chunks the size of pineapple.
  3. Mix all the ingredients together and bring the mixture to a boil then let it simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Pack the mixture into hot jars and water bath for 10 minutes.

There comes a time in life when we need to share what is new and a time to reflect back on the old, returning to the tried and true recipes, like chocolate chip cookies. Following a familiar recipe brings comfort and a taste of home. What is your go to “feels like home” recipe? My mom would say it feels like a chocolate chip cookie kind of day.

God asks us to embrace new experiences but also remember what truly is important and who is important. Can you see God in your everyday experiences? I challenge you and myself to look for God throughout the day, keeping a journal to see what unfolds along the journey.

Faith

The Bible is like a recipe book, with some instructions to follow carefully and others for guidance. While translations may vary, there is no one true recipe for God and a Christian life but He will provide guidance. Similar to that “feels like home” recipe, God is our home where we can find the peace He offers eternally. In summary, we need the word of God to be the light on our path in our daily life. What is necessary in your recipe to make God shine through and show others your faith?

Recipe for Faith

  • 1 cup Trust: The foundation of faith, like a solid base for any dish.
  • 2 tablespoons Hope: Adds sweetness and brightness, just like a pinch of sugar.
  • 3 teaspoons Patience: Essential for letting things simmer and develop flavor.
  • A dash of Surrender: Like salt, it enhances everything when mixed in.
  • 1 generous handful of Community: The veggies that add texture and nourishment.
  • Sprinkles of Gratitude: To finish, bringing all the flavors together.

Deuteronomy 5:1-22

The Ten Commandments

1 Moses summoned all Israel and said:

Hear, Israel, the decrees and laws I declare in your hearing today. Learn them and be sure to follow them. 2 The Lord our God made a covenant with us at Horeb. 3 It was not with our ancestors that the Lord made this covenant, but with us, with all of us who are alive here today. 4 The Lord spoke to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain. 5 (At that time I stood between the Lord and you to declare to you the word of the Lord, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain.) And he said:

6 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

7 “You shall have no other gods before me.

8 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 9 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 10 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

11 “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

12 “Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. 13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns, so that your male and female servants may rest, as you do. 15 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the Lord your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.

16 “Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

17 “You shall not murder.

18 “You shall not commit adultery.

19 “You shall not steal.

20 “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

21 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor’s house or land, his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

22These are the commandments the Lord proclaimed in a loud voice to your whole assembly there on the mountain from out of the fire, the cloud and the deep darkness; and he added nothing more. Then he wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me.
